LIGHTED BOAT PARADE   Presented by

Saturday, July 16 • 9:30pm

Planning for this year’s Floating Festival of Lights lighted boat parade presented by McLaren Port Huron is underway! Boats will come together on Saturday, July 16, for a friendly competition in five categories. All licensed and insured power and sail boats (sailboats must be at least 20’ in length and motorized) are eligible to participate, and there is no entry fee. Registration deadline is Monday, July 11, at 5:00pm.

Complimentary docking on Saturday is available for participants at River Street Marina. There is limited availability and a reservation is required (810 982 3990). A free $50 gas card will be given to participating boats upon completion of parade and return of parade number placard.

There will be a mandatory Skippers Meeting to be held at 7:00pm on July 7, 2016, in a location TBD.

The 2016 parade route will run from the 10th Street Bridge downriver to the mouth of the Black River. Viewing of participants is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by parade staging between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on July 16, 2016 (time subject to change). Anticipated “step off” of the parade will be at 9:30 p.m.

Each class of competing boat type that registers at least three participants is eligible to win a night at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, complete with dinner and breakfast the next morning. One overall winner will win a weekend Gift Package.

Prizes awarded in five categories:

• Pontoon Boats
• Power Boats from 16’ to 29’
• Power boats 30’ and longer
• Sailboats 20’ and over
• Dinghies 6’ to 19’

(Note: all participating boats must be motorized)


Judges will score each entry on:

• Originality
• Overall appearance
• Use of Lighting

Judges will weigh heavily the percentage of lighting to décor this year. Participants should strive to maintain 75% lighting to 25% décor formula to be considered for top prizes. One separate prize will be awarded based on overall décor regardless of the level of lighting incorporated into the design.

Awards will be announced via news releases through the Blue Water Fest’s media partners and local and regional outlets. Winning boaters will be able to pick up their prize packages at the River Street Marina on a date TBD.
